Hail-cracked ridge tiles on a 1927 barrel roof

After last month’s hail in San Antonio, I’m looking at about 40 ridge tiles on a 1927 clay barrel roof with hairline fractures but sound bedding, and I’d like to repair rather than replace to keep the original fabric. Has anyone tracked five-plus years on low-viscosity consolidation versus lime-based mortar stitching for this, and did either option control seep and freeze-thaw without making the tiles go brittle?
