I ask the yard to unroll 8–10’ and let it relax, then run a quick 2" seam with a 40mm nozzle around about 520°C; if the peel tears the sheet and the probe is clean, the “weld window” is fine, and I skip anything with edge telescoping over about 3/8". I’ve hit sub-$0.48 by getting on my Carlisle and GAF reps’ closeout emails before the surplus yards see them — like grabbing tacos right off the grill. Are you seeing weaker welds on older gray runs versus white?
